
It has been over a month since the City Planning Committee granted another continuance to the developer and its proposal on Black Mountain Blvd. This time WITHOUT time constraints AND the possibility of this going back for a vote at the Village Planning Committee where it all started back in October 2023!!
Why would they allow this developer more time based on their disingenuous claims that they want to work with the community and need more time with the land owner, Arizona State Land department? We are highly skeptical residents who see the delay as a tactical ploy to wear down community opposition.
Thus far this process has been very challenging and frustrating to see how much time is wasted at various committees and nobody wants to do the right thing for our community or make a decision. The residents that attended the January 4th meeting made it abundantly clear that we now have a residential builder that has applied for the remainder of this parcel and would probably take it all if this Commercial rezoning request wasn't in the way. This should have been an easy decision to vote against the rezoning and go with the residential application as it's within the Desert Ridge Masterplan and zoning.
