Thank you to everyone who signed the petition since the last update. Please keep sharing this update and petition with interested parties and let's get 1000 votes !!

A lot of progress has been made in terms of getting the attention and getting in contact with the City Planning Commission and Council man Jim Waring. Everyone has taken notice of all our efforts and are realizing that the opposition is not just a few naysayers. There are legitimate concerns and the rezoning will be materially detrimental to our neighborhood.

We are a group of educated, organized and connected people who are tapping into our network to grow this opposition and our knowledge, learning about this process and continue to reach out to city departments, Arizona State Land Department, Road Action safety committee, Local news, etc to ensure that they are aware of the bait and switch tactics being deployed by this developer.

To that point, we now learned that they filed for a continuance request which will delay the actual voting for 30 days. We are obviously disappointed that for the last 30 days, the time between the Village Planning Commission who decided 9-1 against this rezoning and today, the developer and attorneys have not made any effort to reach out to our group, consulted with our group or communicated with us until the last minute in the form of a delay.

We need this proposal to be dismissed or dropped in any way, shape or form and stick to the Residential zoning and the Desert Ridge Master plan. There are plenty pre-approved commercial zones in this area that are equally viable.
#sticktotheplan #letcommonsenseprevail.

We wanted to make sure everyone stays in the loop with the developments in the rezoning case at Black Mountain Blvd.

  • August 1st - First Public and Informational Meeting.
  • October 3rd - Desert View Village Planning Committee voted AGAINST the proposal 9-1
  • **Next** November 2nd - Continuance Request Review meeting.
    • Core members will still intend to be at this meeting
  • December 7th - New Date for Planning Commission to Vote on the proposal
    • Your attendance of this meeting is critical to the outcome
    • 1 night out of your busy lives will make the difference.
    • Attendance speaks!

Leaves me to wish you all a Happy Halloween, which is an occasion where our Desert Ridge community really shines and has always demonstrated that we already live in a "Connected Oasis" and vibrant community that does NOT need to be spooked by commercial interests to ruin this and put our kids at risk.
