Oppose Bullhead City General Plan Amendment for Proposed Data Center
The Issue
On October 8, 2026, we attended a crucial Planning and Zoning meeting at the Optimum Center where we were presented with a proposal that could drastically change our community. The meeting addressed a significant General Plan Amendment that seeks to redesignate approximately 4,400 acres of the Laughlin Ranch Master Plan as part of a proposed Data Center. This development is set to stretch from Fox Creek to Laughlin Ranch on the East side, deeply affecting our community's landscape and lifestyle.
The proposed location for this Data Center, just 0.88 miles from Laughlin Ranch and 1-1.5 miles from Fox Creek, is simply unacceptable. Laughlin Ranch is a community cherished for its natural beauty and residential tranquility. Introducing a massive industrial project so close to homes is not only an infringement on the quality of life we cherish but also poses significant environmental and infrastructural concerns.
The construction of a Data Center in this area threatens to increase traffic, noise, and pollution, impacting the serene environment that we have worked hard to maintain. Furthermore, there is a growing concern about how this could affect property values and local wildlife. Alternate locations for such a project exist, ensuring that development can proceed without disrupting residential areas.
Furthermore, the decision-making process behind this proposal lacks transparency and consideration of the community's voice. It is imperative that any decisions affecting our community come with thorough analysis and reflect inclusive consultations with all stakeholders, especially residents.
This is not merely about resisting change; it is about preserving the unique character and quality of life that Laughlin Ranch and Fox Creek offers. There are undoubtedly many appropriate locations for a Data Center, but they should not impose on our established neighborhoods.
We demand that the City Council formally opposes and rejects this amendment. We call upon local authorities to engage with community members and reconsider alternative locations that align with both developmental goals and community interests.
Please sign this petition to protect Laughlin Ranch and Fox Creek to ensure that development is carried out responsibly and with due respect for our community's values.
