When we talk about safety, we sometimes forget to talk about those who serve. As it pertains to this planned development, Fire Station 1 in Panama City Beach is just a few steps from this planned development.
We'd like to know if those fire and rescue personnel can handle 200+ additional guests. When was the last time our local Fire and EMS got new gear, or a new ladder truck?
Our sources tell us that our local Fire and rescue have been running more calls with the same equipment used the past 15 years. What is the life expectancy for these ladder trucks? How many times have our local Fire and EMS not been able to respond to calls because they've had zero ambulances available?
Friends, we will be told to stop asking these questions because the development was approved by Bay County Planning and Zoning.
Don't you think these are important questions to ask?
Why would we want more hotels if we don't have the infrastructure to support it? We will be told we have the infrastructure to support but we'd really like to see the run logs and the facts. If they have all they need, why does the military Fire respond to calls? We support our Fire and EMS and not just through the taxes we pay!
