At the BCC meeting on October 24th, the  petitioners and county staff ignored the fact that this low density neighborhood would be an incompatible location for apartments. The recent studies to this area and two comprehensive plans preserving the rural character and keeping Golden Gate Estates wooded and low-density, had no bearing on the decisions of 4 of the 5 Commissioners. 
Spot zoning and poor planning is condoned in Naples. Residents have no rights or protections to their communities in Collier County. 
We put up great community opposition with legitimate facts. The “crisis” of lack of workforce housing has created knee-jerk decisions and incompatible, discrepant rezonings which will forever impact the community, traffic and Estates living. 
Thank you to all who campaigned and signed to avert this abhorrent rezone.
