Operation Moonfall 2.0: Bring Majora's Mask to a New Generation

With the incredible reveal of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2, a new era for one of gaming's most beloved adventures has begun.

But there is another journey waiting beyond the horizon.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask have always been inseparable in the hearts of Zelda fans. Born from the same Nintendo 64 era and sharing characters, assets, and a common foundation, Majora's Mask transformed that foundation into something darker, stranger, more emotional, and unlike anything else in the series.

Now, Nintendo has the opportunity to do it again.

The new Ocarina of Time remake demonstrates what a modern Nintendo 64-era Zelda adventure can look and feel like on Nintendo Switch 2. Rather than simply revisiting Ocarina of Time, that foundation could be used to bring Termina to life on a scale fans have dreamed about for decades.

Imagine Clock Town rebuilt for a modern generation.
Imagine the transformation masks brought to life with today's technology.
Imagine the three-day cycle, the Great Bay, Ikana Canyon, the Stone Tower, and the people of Termina with the visual detail and cinematic presentation of what Nintendo has created with a remake of Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo Switch 2 system.

This is where Operation Moonfall 2.0 begins.
In 2011, fans launched Operation Moonfall after Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma said that a Majora's Mask remake was not an impossibility if there were enough enthusiasm and demand from fans. The campaign grew into a major fan movement, with thousands of fans signing the petition and supporting the effort across social media., helping demonstrate just how passionate the Zelda community was about seeing Termina return.

Years later, that dream became reality when The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D was announced and released.

Now, the opportunity has come again.

Why now?
Nintendo has brought Ocarina of Time back for a new generation, with a ground-up remake of Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2, featuring completely overhauled visuals, voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, orchestral music, and modernized controls.

The Legend of Zelda is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

For the first time, fans can see what one of the Nintendo 64 era's defining Zelda adventures could look like with modern technology.

And there is one adventure that has always stood beside it.
Majora's Mask.

We, the global Zelda community, respectfully ask Nintendo to develop and release a modern remake of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for Nintendo Switch 2, building upon the technology and development foundation established by Ocarina of Time.

This is not a demand for Nintendo to rush the game.

It is a message:

We are here.
We remember Termina.
We want to return.
