There is no right to shelter in the City of Toronto.

Mayor Olivia Chow's budget must fix this.

Shelters are full with close to 10,000 people in them.

'Temporary' low-barrier, congregate respite sites, now employed for over six years, have lower standards are also full. (see video in link).

Warming centres, that operate with even lower public health standards, are routinely full WHEN THEY OPEN, usually only when it is -5C. 

The City of Toronto is now using Toronto Transit buses to provide shelter to people instead of indoor spaces with cots, showers, meals and care.

The result: ill health, infections including COVID, cold injuries, deprivation of the human spirit, forced outdoor sleeping, death.

Is the City of Toronto this morally bankrupt that they cannot provide the most basic human need - shelter?

Mayor Chow has the opportunity to fix this with her budget. Until the city's shelter and housing crisis is resolved she must direct the warming centres to open and stay open 24/7.
