Sharing “OC ANIMAL CARE'S EUTH LIST TODAY 1/13/23. (46 dogs) Unfortunately the above photo does not show all the dogs! The dogs in "red" have been given a deadline date. The "orange" dogs are 'at-risk' and will be assigned a date soon. There are 16 "yellow" dogs that we didn't post here that have minor medical or behavior issues.

OC Animal Care is FULL. They are in crisis mode but won't admit it. Because OC Animal Care has continued to remain closed so that the public cannot walk through the kennels and choose dogs to adopt they connect with, public adoptions are down. Who wants to adopt a dog from an online photo? And people are sometimes waiting for 2 hours on hold to make an appointment!

The shelter is out of space for dogs and they are being stuffed in any possible space, not areas even designed to house dogs. Catios - small outdoor areas for cats and other crate style wire cages.

Each day we are getting notified of dogs added to their kill list
guilting local rescue groups into taking more dogs they cannot afford to do.  How is this sustainable?

Today there are 143 dogs available to adopt. 99 dogs in Lost & Found. There are a total of 46 dogs "at-risk" of euthanasia.

There needs to be more public outcry!
These are email addresses of people in charge and who are mismanaging the Shelter.
Shelter Director: Andi.Bernard@occr.ocgov.com ( no experience of animal care)
Asst. Director: Monica.Schmidt@occr.ocgov.com.

OC Community Resources Director
& Asst. Director (Oversees OC Animal Care)
Dylan.Wright@occr.ocgov.com
Cymantha.Atkinson@occr.ocgov.com

Frank.Kim@ocgov.com- CEO of Orange County who also seems to have no interest in the Shelter.

Regarding OC Board of Supervisors

Don Wagner and Doug Chaffee are particularly against opening up the shelter citing concern about stress for dogs having visitors which makes no sense. Dogs are confined in cages, with no human interaction and eventually develop behavioral problems, and are consequently killed!
Please contact Don and Doug directly! They are not responding to emails, or  even listen or respond to public comments made at the Board Supervisors meetings about the shelter. It’s as though the tax payer is invisible to them!

Here are the new Board of Supervisors Board. They have the power to change the Shelter but do nothing.
