We Need to get a lot of emails to the Commission. On 21 Dec, we sent a petition to the Commission to change the North of Falcon Policy into a WAC (Washington Administrative Code). The Commission has to start the process or provide a written explanation why they won’t. The purpose is to get the Commission to change the NOF policy, which is advisory to a code, which is a law. We were hopeful that we could get some public input to let the Commission know we want them to start the process and write open meetings into the WAC. We just received word that the Commission will discuss the petition, but they are going to discuss it in a conference call on Feb 2, without any public input. We can still let our voices be heard however, by emailing the Commission and telling them to approve converting the North of Falcon Policy to a WAC. If the commission starts the conversion process, there will be a public input session where we can speak out telling them to put open meetings into the law. Continuing with the policy is unacceptable as it’s advisory status does not allow the Commission the authority needed to properly supervise the Senior Leadership of WDFW. The recent events surrounding the Ten Year Chinook Salmon Harvest Plan highlights the need for the Commission to apply better supervision to the WDFW. Further, I have lost all trust and confidence that the Senior Staff at WDFW will allow proper oversight of their activities through a mere advisory policy.
