This evening, at 10:22 we reached our 800th signature! 800 people from all walks of life, all races, all backgrounds, all political parties. Citizens who, one by one have stood, raised their voice and said: TRANSPARENCY MATTERS! FAIRNESS MATTERS! WE WILL NOT BE IGNORED ANY LONGER! Through your efforts, we have reached to within 200 signatures of 10000. Thank you! We are angry, frustrated, mis-trusting and fed up with the way things have been managed in our fisheries, we are also tired of being ignored and treated like we don’t count. WELL, WE DO COUNT. And we are standing in solidarity as one voice now. But, is 800 enough? Can we sit back now and pat ourselves on the back and say “Well done” Can we let off now and afford to fail? Can we look at our self in the mirror and truthfully say, “I DID ALL I COULD” if we failed. I say NO! We MUST dig deep, keep fighting and find those that still need to have their voices heard! How many people in this State hold a fishing license? How many are missing out on taking the grandkids fishing because of closures? How many voices are angry and frustrated right now? People that have not even heard about our petition, our movement? 800 compared to the number of our friends, our family members, our fellow citizens that are as frustrated and angry as we are is only a drop. WE OWE THEM A CHANCE TO BE HEARD. We must get the word out to them. We have the chance to do something really good here. Now, right now, but it’s up to us. It is because of you, and all of us. This is truly a grass roots movement. We have no sponsors, no cooperate support, no mass media. We have each other...and because of that...we are stronger!!
