In a time where people in our community are the most vulnerable, afraid and isolated than they have ever been before, to CLOSE Rookwood Cemetery in Lidcombe NSW for visits has an enormous impact on the mental health of people who have lost loved ones & find peace only by visiting and caring for their graves. 

“NSW police advised that visiting the grave of a loved one in the cemetery is not a reasonable excuse to leave home” 

We ask that ‘visiting the grave of a loved one’ be considered a reasonable excuse under compassionate reasons of the NSW Restrictions and reasonable excuses.

We ask that it be RE OPENED for visits and would accept any entry requirements you see appropriate.
There is already security patrolling the 1 main entrance. Some additional or all options for entry could include; capped number of entries per day, entry via car only, 1 person per car, only one entry per day per car (recording number plates), showing identification and proof of address (within 5/10kms), having to wear a mask, QR sign in at entry & QR sign in at area visited, have COVID Marshals patrolling areas most commonly visited, just to name a few. 

We CAN find another solution to control the number of people allowed to enter and ensure it is safe for our community. 
Our citizens deserve to be heard on this matter. We are all trying to do the right thing and would sincerely appreciate Rookwood Cemetery being opened with the appropriate entry conditions.
