OPEN LETTER TO RAW MILK RETAILERS: Recognition of Raw Farm's Impact
The Issue
I come from a lineage deeply ingrained in the practice and benefit of whole, unprocessed food: Amish—just a couple of generations ago, and a couple of cousins away. I have experienced firsthand the profound benefits of sustenance straight from the farm to my table, both in my own personal health and lifestyle, as well as my very long-lived heritage. Raw Farm, led by Mark McAfee and his dedicated staff, has been a beacon of this ideology, providing raw milk and health foods and feeding many here in California, just like myself, who revere this way of life. I invite you, the raw milk consumer community, to add your endorsement to this open letter in support of the farm:

“Dear Sprouts, Erewhon, Lassens, Bristol Farms, & all other raw milk retailers in California (including Whole Foods, in memoriam):
Raw Farm is not just a company; it's a lifestyle, community, and a testament to the power of raw, unprocessed food. Their raw milk is a favorite among consumers, supplied to us via retail distributors across the state, as well as the dedicated farmers’ markets and lesser-known “mom & pop” stores. Statistics show that raw milk sales have grown considerably over the years, undoubtedly in large part due to the efforts and products of Raw Farm (source: Progressive Dairy, 2017). How much of your profit margin do you owe to this growth, both in direct product sales as well as other groceries and customer loyalty?
Recognition and acknowledgment of Raw Farm's contribution to your clientele seem insufficient, to say the least. You reap the benefits of increased customers drawn by raw dairy products, particularly raw milk, yet when the chips are down, you fail to acknowledge the debt you owe to Raw Farm for ushering in these customers.
Without Raw Farm's dedication to quality and health, and without McAfee and his family and staff’s relentless commitment, we believe that the raw milk consumer base would be depleted in California, and our access to real farm-to-table foods would be increasingly limited. Therefore, we urge you to rightly recognize and openly express your support for Raw Farm and their tireless efforts to continue making real and unprocessed food safe and available by stocking their products in abundance!
