Along with many residents of Cary, NC, I have fond memories of biting into the hot, sweet goodness of the iconic Original Glazed Krispy Kreme donut; it is a unique taste that feels like home. It is not just about loving donuts – it is about the joy and community that a Krispy Kreme store can bring. Residents were once able to enjoy their favorite donut flavors at one location in Cary, up until it closed unexpectedly over 15 years ago and was replaced with a convenience store, limiting our access to these delectable pastries. With the amount of growth Cary has gone through in the past 15 years, a new Krispy Kreme location being opened here would be a far more sustainable business now compared to what it once was.

North Carolina is the home state where Krispy Kreme was originated and is home to its worldwide headquarters in Charlotte, NC. With over 1400 stores internationally, it is illogical that we do not currently have a Krispy Kreme location in Cary. Out of the top 14 largest cities in NC, every city has a Krispy Kreme location other than Cary, and yet, Cary, the seventh-largest city in North Carolina, is the only one missing out of the picture. With a population of over 180,000 (according to US Census Bureau) and close to 1% annual growth rate, Cary is not only a significant market in North Carolina but also a community that is able to appreciate the goodness of a well-cherished Krispy Kreme donut.

Opening a Krispy Kreme location in Cary will not only satisfy the cravings of local donut lovers in town, but also contribute to the local economic growth by creating jobs and drawing more traffic to the area where it establishes itself. Cary’s demographic and stable economy provide a promising market for Krispy Kreme to thrive on and expand. It would expose many generations to the delectable treat of a Krispy Kreme donut.
