With record-high water levels on Lake St. Clair threatening Town of Lakeshore properties, the town has put emergency services on standby while doing regular road patrols and handing out free sandbags.

In moving to a state of “enhanced activation,” the town has also convened its Municipal Emergency Control Group. The group will provide ongoing assessments on whether there is “a danger of major proportions” that could cause serious harm to people or substantial damage to property.

If such conditions materialize, the municipality said it will move to “full activation” and declare a state of emergency.
