The Goa government is asking for public views on Viksit Goa 2047. The question is: What should Viksit Goa look like and how do we get there?

Development does not have to mean the destruction of Goa, despite what it might look like around us. All is not lost! We still have the chance to choose a future in which people and nature can thrive together and our long term prosperity and quality of life is secured. 

But it means sending a clear message now as part of the government's VIKSIT GOA public consultation asking for our views, that we don't want the destructive type of development that is currently changing the face and feel of Goa. 

Instead we choose a more healthy green progress that respects our nature and culture and plans for the health and wealth of future generations - and we believe Goa can lead by example. 

This means making some changes to how we "do" development in Goa. The principles below have been developed collaboratively by a number of people and professionals to steer us onto a greener path to progress and prosperity where People and Nature can grow and thrive together.

Sign the petition to demand these 5 principles are put into practice so that so Goa can shift to a green development path. 

1st Principle:

NATURE 1st! - PROTECT and CARE for Sacred Mother Nature, everyone's health depends on healthy forests, rivers, wildlife, water, soil and air. 

2nd Principle:

COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP - DESIGN and PLAN with local communities so that development benefits and uplifts the people and builds skills and resilience and self-reliance.

3rd Principle:

LOCAL GREEN ECONOMY - INCENTIVISE and FAVOUR local green businesses and jobs that don’t uproot nature and culture, like farming, eco-tourism, clean energy, green building and new opportunities.

4th Principle:

ACCOUNTABLE GOVERNANCE - ENFORCE safer, fairer, legal development using technology for accountability, transparent data  and integrated working.

5th Principle:

CULTURAL IDENTITY - CELEBRATE and PROTECT Goa’s culture, diversity of  traditions, music, food and world famous relaxed quality of life.
