One Grove
May 1, 2024

Friends,  You won.

The Grove has been reunited.  Allapattah has bee reunified.  Overtown is made whole.

Shenandoah and Morningside remain divided for now, but we have bigger plans already in the works to make them whole.

Joh Ceballos of WLRN called this morning with the news.  His excellent article can be found here: https://www.wlrn.org/government-politics/2024-05-01/miami-new-map-districts-vote-racial-gerrymandering-agreement

Highlights:

  1. Grove reunited.
  2. Carollo keeps his house and his seat in D3.
  3. City has to pay all legal bills associated with the case. ($1.5M for plaintiffs. $1.5M for City's attorneys)
  4. Carollo cannot seek reelection.
  5. New map will be used in 2025 elections.

Commission to approve this deal at Thursday May 9 meeting.
