Rob Kidwell and Jill Swain, the former mayor of Huntersville, corresponded with me. Here's what transpired: Rob Kidwell (who is running for Huntersville Town Commissioner) in North Carolina wrote: "Ms. Webster, thank your for reaching out. I have been copied on all correspondence with from you and Dr. Brennan via email. Thank you for the the information, I have shared it with the other team members involved, whom are much more involved in the science of things, than I am." And Jill Swain reached out to me on Facebook messenger. She wrote: "Ms. Webster, I am the executive director of the Huntersville Chamber of Commerce. Thank you for your messages. As former mayor of our community, I will tell you that there is nothing of more urgency for us than the health of our community. I must also say that it is very difficult to share with every person who emails us the extent of the research, past and present, that our town is doing toward the ocular melanoma issue. Your comments have been passed along, as well as the many others who suggest certain tests and research potential. Thank you for your concern and advocacy. Me: All I'm asking for is the following tests on tissue samples (already taken) and on surviving patients: 1) A broad range PCR screen for infection by Rickettsiales (Wolbachia genes in blood). Jill Swain: You need to understand that you are not the only one who has a list of items that must be researched. As well, please (and I say this sincerely) know that we do not have idiots working on this. Dr. Brennan is one of many. We have neighbors and friends and family affected by this. We will not sit idly by. Me: Great! I appreciate you letting me know. Because based on Dr. Brennan's only two responses to my four emails, he appears to perhaps have cognitive issues. And I listened to him (as did a friend of mine) speak to your council members and he seemed to be apologetic about some things. So, I do have concerns. [And I sent her Dr. Brennan's two email responses and one from that nurse, Elizabeth Olmstead McBride, who derided me in the Facebook group, Ocular Melanoma Friends & Family]. Me: I'm not paid a cent to help out, I'm doing this for humanitarian reasons. I look forward to hearing the final outcome. Take good care and thank you once again for reaching out. It's a good sign. Concerned in Canada, Rose Webster Jill Swain: You should know better than to believe everything you read on FB. Me: Not sure what you are referring to. Dr. Brennan responded twice to my four emails. He asked to be removed from my email list. He obviously did not want to put in writing what he was going to say to me in a phone call. That never looks good to a judge. If these patients seek legal help (and I hope they do) I intend to recruit Canadian doctors to help. Just so you know. There is still time to do the right thing. But insulting me isn't going to help. Money does strange things to people, even highly educated ones. Have a nice evening, Rose Jill Swain: Part of the issue here is dealing with the misinformation that is pervasive on social media. Those very distractions affect the ability of the researchers. In fact, you are basing your above comments on a post that Dr. Brennan was paid. Incorrect. There is a grant but the money hasn’t been earmarked yet. Me: Yes, social media and mainstream media are to blame for plenty of misinformation. That's why I do my own research. Dr. Brennan went on about how the geospatial study money was spent and that something like ~ $30,000 is going to be a "bargain" for whatever investigation is pending. He mentioned his wife looks after the finances (or something along those lines). He apologized for something or other. I seriously don't care about the money, I'm trying to save lives. Those funding these Wolbachia-infected releases include the U.S. gov't and Bill and Melinda Gates (who is also known for giving "grant" money to various research institutions and the media). If I were on your council, I wouldn't pay Dr. Brennan until he conducted all those tests. So, that's good to know that he hasn't been paid yet. Perhaps it's a carrot you could still dangle to get him to do what is morally right. BTW, even Wikipedia editors take bribes. She obviously cares. And it sure beats being brushed off and ignored. On the Legal Front As promised, I sent out my research to some law firms. A couple have gotten back to me. Most notably: Mr. Phil Comins responded with: Dear Rose Webster, If the patients are in the US then yes, the law firm would be happy to ask them questions about the potential case. And to be clear, NOT the skin snip biopsy (even though it is touted as the gold standard). Because we have documented proof that the nematode worm does NOT have to be present for Wolbachia to directly infect a patient.
