I am gobsmacked to discover that (somehow) Facebook is able to prevent me from trying to help U.S. citizens. Every post I make (even without a link) is immediately "flagged as spam". Even sites that previously "invited me to like their page" are not allowing my comments. But, I document everything. And later today, at 6 pm (Eastern) is when Dr. Brennan will be updating the community of the research efforts to find answers for the Huntersville and the surrounding area ocular melanoma epidemic. Since I live in Canada, I am unable to attend this event (and I doubt I would be allowed anyways) but I encourage others — patients, community members, lawyers — to publicly ask Dr. Brennan about: 1) A broad range PCR screen for infection by Rickettsiales (Wolbachia genes in blood and tissues). 2) ZIKV test (using any two of these): the Lanciotti E-, the Pyke E- and NS1-, the Bonn E- and the Bonn NS1-based assays. They are the most reliable. Some tests are up to 80 percent inaccurate. If he dismisses your valid concerns (or indicates these will not be tested for), I would inform him that you will be seeking legal advice. Awareness by a public figure (known for her environmental activism) is always a good thing. I am hoping and praying that we can (at least) get a court order to ensure these tests are conducted, in a timely fashion. And, I am certain that many, many people are owed compensation and an apology (of some kind). Sadly, I fear there will be more of these clusters, though, based on what I've uncovered since May 2016.
