Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) is evaluating sites for a new high school to alleviate overcrowding at Ardrey Kell and South Mecklenburg high schools. The athletic fields and green space directly behind Olde Providence Elementary are under serious consideration as a location. In choosing this location, CMS will destroy the established athletic fields, wildlife and green space behind Olde Providence Elementary. For over 50 years, this green space has served an estimated 5000 families, both children and adults. Surrounding neighborhoods have independently maintained these areas. Please sign this petition to save our valued Olde Providence Park and Green Space. We ask CMS and the County Commission to work with the community to find an alternative site.
