This petition arises out of the continued frustration from residents of OLD FORD ROAD, E2 - following a string of serious accidents and the blatant disregard for the 20mph speed limit. The numerous accidents on our road over the past year, paint a grim picture of what could be a fatality in the future if this petition is ignored.

Speeding has been identified as a major contributor to these accidents. To prevent further loss and trauma to residents, we're calling for the immediate installation of speed cameras on OLD FORD ROAD E2 between Grove Road & Approach Road. According to a report from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, "speed cameras are a well evidenced and effective method of reducing speeds, especially in high-risk locations." (ROSPA, 2017). The installation of speed cameras could save lives and safeguard our community from accidents connected to speeding. This is about the safety and wellbeing of our friends, loved ones, neighbours and their property. It's time for change, it's time for action.

We call upon the GLA and Tower Hamlets Council to enter into discussions with TFL about the placement of SPEED CAMERAS along OLD FORD ROAD in order to ensure the safety of their constituents.
