In 2005 Rane Ayesh was one of four people who was involved in a crime that resulted in someone losing their life. Rane was not the person that took gentleman’s life , but he  played a part, one man had a firearm that night and pulled the trigger leading to the mans death. The reason for the petition is , the man who actually pulled the trigger fled to a country with no extradition treaty with America and  was not captured and brought back to America until 8 years after the fact. Had he been here when  the other three defendants were sentenced Rane more than likely wouldn’t have received a life sentence. We’re asking that Governor Mike DeWine commute his life sentence to flat time due to the fact that when the man that actually killed the gentleman was caught eight years later, he was sentenced to flat time! There simply is no justice in this sentence. Rane isn’t asking to be let out of prison, he wants the same sentence as the man that actually took the mans life! Had Rane ran and hid for eight years like the coward that killed the gentleman it would have been different. Rane’s been in prison over 20 years, all he’s asking is for is the chance to show he can be a decent human being again.  He knows he deserves to be in prison, but it’s hard for him to lay down at night knowing he has a life sentence and the actual shooter gets to go home one day! Where is the justice in this? It seems like the shooter was given a better deal just so the prosecution could finally end this case! Thank you for taking the time to read this!
