Officially Admit Puerto Rico as a U.S State

The Issue

I am a proud American patriot, and it is in my firm belief that Puerto Rico should be admitted to the United States as a state. This belief is not just personal, but also rooted in the principles of equality and justice that our nation stands for.

Puerto Rico has been an unincorporated territory of the United States since 1898, with its citizens granted U.S citizenship in 1917. Despite this long-standing relationship, they are denied full representation at the federal level and cannot vote in presidential elections unless they reside on mainland U.S.

In recent years, there have been several referendums held on the island regarding its political status. In November 2020, a majority of Puerto Ricans voted for statehood for the first time (source: The New York Times). However, their voice remains unheard at Capitol Hill.

The admission of Puerto Rico as an official state would ensure equal rights and representation for over 3 million American citizens residing there. It's time we rectify this historical oversight and uphold our commitment to democracy by treating all citizens equally.

Join me in urging Congress to officially admit Puerto Rico as a U.S State - because every American citizen deserves equal rights and representation under our flag. Please sign this petition today!
