21 July 2016
Over 135,000 people have come together to call for dedicated resources to develop computer science education in classrooms throughout the country. That’s great! Lend your voice and tell Congress why Computer Science is important to you: http://www.csecoalition.org/takeaction Last week, Congress Members gathered to discuss changes to the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Bill. While the committee did not pass targeted funding for K-12 computer science education, a bipartisan group of Congressional members reaffirmed the need for computer science education. At the state level, governors across the US have been vocal in their support for expanding digital learning opportunities for future generations. This past Friday, governors attending the National Governors Association Summer Meeting even participated in an “Hour of Code” and learned how to code. Though we have made notable progress, there is more work to be done. Congress will work with the President to reach an agreement on the final budget by the end of this year. While there is still time, write to your Members of Congress and tell them to prioritize K-12 computer science education. Take action now because American economic competitiveness depends on it. http://www.csecoalition.org/takeaction Thank you for your support, Computer Science Education Coalition
