Petition updateSave the Wagenburg Osnabrück, our home!

We keep waiting.

awwww! It's been a long time since we provided you with some update, dear supporters!

But that's no surprise, given we're still waiting for the municipality to decide on our right to stay. Bureaucracy sucks. So, we try to hold all our patience together, still waiting for the outcomes of an early citizen participation, that was carried out in early 2017 (!) regarding the building construction plans, and for the results of the also 2017 (!) official examinations, like the environmental impact study, on the suitability of the soil to support tons and tons of concrete and sealing, and so on. Tell you what? It sucks. While the autocratic decision makers most enjoy their homes sweet homes, the insolent uncertainty they create drives our individual and collective sentimental situation sometimes close to explosion.

But: we're not doing nothing. So, right now, we're part of a huge local campaign carried by an alliance of over 40 local and regional groups to reclaim and create affortable homes for everyone. This is necessary because flats and houses for living are no exception to gentrification processes. On the contrary, many people have to pay more than half of their monthly income for the rent. So, the first step of the alliance's agenda is the claim for the re-creation of a communal (public) cooperative for affortable flats. And so far, the campaign is going great!

Furthermore, we have been keeping up the discussions with politicians of different parties, with professionals of a diversity of areas, with students, with the neighborhood. ...and and and.

On 26th October there is going to be a concert and party at the SubstAnZ, the biggest local autonomous cultural and political place, to support our struggle financially. Because, unfortunately, our resistance has been generating costs, and we fear their will be much more in the future.

So, while the municipality is slowing down everything by bureaucracy and now -as their latest gimmick- arguing with a large sewerage renovation which, by the way, our trailers and us do not need (!) but that will take up to 2 years (!) starting in 2019, we try to convert our patient anger into fun and useful spirit anyway. :)

As there is still such a long road ahead of us, we would be pleased if meanwhile you could further help us by spreading our petition around the globe.

Thank you so much!
