Objection to ready mix concrete plant in Stanley Township off I-29 Exit 54

Objection to ready mix concrete plant in Stanley Township off I-29 Exit 54
The Issue
Our community, which includes cherished farmland, farmsteads, and residences, is facing a threat from a proposed rezoning and change of ordinances that would allow the sale of land to a ready mix concrete plant to be located in Stanley Township. This area is our home, our heritage, and our means of living which has supported our families for generations. The shift from peaceful rural living to industrial activity will impact the environment and our way of life.
The far reaching dust from this type of facility affects air quality, poses health hazards to humans and animals, and contaminates our water resources--namely the Wild Rice River which empties into the Red River.
Our rural roads are not designed to support industrial volumes, which would lead to community-funded repairs along with posing safety risks to residents and county 16 road traffic of heavy equipment vehicles. Amplified noise pollution from both the plant operations and transportation activities will also be disruptive.
Lastly, the rezoning will devalue our properties financially as well as our quality of lives. Buyers and developers will seek quieter, less industrialized areas, further impacting the future economic sustainability of our township.
We urge the Stanley Township Board to follow the lead of Kurtz Township with a similar situation and deny the rezoning of land to industrial for a ready mix concrete plant and we also encourage each township board member to disclose any potential conflict of interest.
Protect our community by signing this petition opposing the ready mix concrete plant in Stanley Township near the southside Fargo. And attend the next Stanley Township Board Meeting being held on Tuesday, March 17 at 8pm at the Horace Fire Hall.
