Objection to planning application- 53 Fox Hollow, Oadby

The Issue

We, the community members of Oadby, are raising our voices in opposition to the proposed planning application to transform 53 Fox Hollow from a C3 dwelling to a C2 residential institute. This change not only affects the physical character of our neighbourhood but also the spirit of our community. According to UK planning law, a C3 dwelling is a residential category that includes houses, flats, and apartments where all the residents live together as a single household. However, a C2 residential institute is classified as a care home, hospital or boarding school.

These different categories have distinct and far-reaching implications for our community. Dwelling houses (C3) contribute to the residential feel of our neighbourhood thereby creating a sense of camaraderie among residents. On the other hand, C2 residences introduce a more institutional character and could potentially lead to increased traffic, noise, and other disturbances. We agree that care homes and hospitals provide essential services and should be located appropriately, but we believe that introducing such an establishment on Fox Hollow would dramatically alter the essence of our tight-knit residential community.

We call upon the Oadby and Wigston Borough Council to reject this planning application and protect the residential character of our neighbourhood. Join us in voicing our concerns—sign this petition today.
