This year the costs of car insurance has gone through the roof. A relative of mine has just received a quote of £700 for exactly the same cover that cost £285 nigh on 12 months ago.....a percentage increase of 145.6% !!! I must add that the quote was the LEAST expensive and there has not been any events over the past year that should have influenced any increase. SAME car....same residence...same drivers....same parking sites etc . My relative is not alone, a huge amount of people are experiencing similar extortionate renewal quotes. A brief scan on the web reveals that the insurance companies are putting the increases down to.....increased costs of repairs.....increased number of accidents....energy prices.....advances in car technology. Whilst no doubt costs have increased it is about time that the insurance companies are brought to task to explain clearly and concisely the bases of the disproportionate price hikes. With a great many people now finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet the government has a responsibility to investigate possible profiteering on something that is for many an ESSENTIAL expense. Please register your objection to bring this issue to the fore.
