Very important message about the travellers site!!!  Please read urgently and to the end! 

Hi All, 

Again, another big thank you to all those who have supported the campaign. Particular thanks to those who took time out to attend the council meeting to represent our wonderful community and to those who spent hours writing speeches and doing research on legitimate planning reasons on why this should not go ahead! 

Last night the parish council met, and myself and 4 others from the NL opposition committee spoke for 3 minutes each (yes we were actually timed), representing your views and letting the council know that we object to Taylor Wimpey’s plans to build more homes and a travellers site in Newton Leys!

I think we can say we had partial success. The parish council have previously already agreed to new homes being built, so stood by that decision, however, they agreed with us that Newton Leys is not the best place to house a travellers site. Even though this is good news, the parish council are not the planning authority, Milton Keynes city council is! This means we need to keep fighting to convince Milton Keynes City Council that a travellers site should not be placed in Newton Leys! 

By simply having the support of our parish council means we can have them on board to help our fight!

We had really good advice and information from the councillors last night. I thank them for listening to our concerns and making the decision that they did. They confirmed that the travellers site in Newton Leys, is published on the draft Milton Keynes City Council long term plan, which is called Mk City plan 2050. The good news is that it’s currently a draft plan, with a consultation period. 

The bad news is that the consultation period ends today, so please do not delay and act now before it’s too late! You will need to answer questions 40B and 40C which is all around travellers sites in Milton Keynes and the Councils long term plans, which includes Newton Leys!
