We need DETOX services (Medically Assisted Withdrawal) in every hospital.  The high percentage of people struggling with the disease of addiction but not in treatment does not reflect the desire for treatment.  Patients arrive in many Emergency Rooms as an overdose or in active withdrawal only to be stabilized and discharged because the hospital does not provide addiction services. Each hospital chooses whether or not to treat addiction and secure the necessary license and permit.  DETOX services is not a location, it is a medical protocol using medications already in the pharmacy.  It requires a license or permit required by state and federal laws.  We need our State Representatives to require all local hospitals and medical centers to provide this need.
