More surprise turns regarding Albion--Act now!

From our friends at the Austin Guards and the Oak Park Coalition for Appropriate Development... Hi everyone. More surprise turns regarding Albion: 1. A last-minute proposal change; 2. Severe restrictions on public comments; 3.Trustees advised not to talk to citizens. 1. Albion has, at the last minute, introduced a token variation in their proposal that they hope will sway one or two more trustees to their side. It solves none of the project’s problems. They propose to make a few notches in one side of the building, in exchange for more height elsewhere and fewer parking spots. We need to help the trustees recognize that this does not make it acceptable. 2. Opponents will be granted only THREE 3-minute slots to address the Albion proposal at the Oct. 2 Board meeting. We believe that the best strategy is to have representatives of the Austin Guards organization, the Coalition for Appropriate Development, and the Park District in those spots. E-MAIL YOUR COMMENT THIS WEEKEND to the trustees at board@oak-park.us . COME TO THE BOARD MEETING Monday Oct 2, 7:30 at Village Hall. If you can, PRINT AND BRING YOUR COMMENTS—we will hand them to the trustees in person. Don’t be silenced! Also—if you would like to comment on the state of affairs in our Village, without specifically referring to the Albion proposal, you can still sign up to give a “non-agenda” comment at the beginning of the meeting. Show up before 7:15 to sign in for comments. 3. The Village Attorney has advised trustees NOT TO SPEAK WITH CITIZENS in person about this! So all the more important to write, phone, and show up at the meeting. We hope to see you at Village Hall on Monday evening.
