Hello Supporters of Youth in the Great Outdoors of East Harlem & Beyond,

Today, during an end-of-summer workshop, one of our AmeriCorps Members - who is a local college student - said that a strength he gained during his 300-Hour Summer Term with us was that he realized for the first time in his life that he was a leader! We had heard rave reviews of his leadership in our gardens all summer. He also shared that he would seek out leadership opportunities in his school and personal life to continue building his skills. This is what we do here! Youth realize their potential, and act on it.

The fact is that we need an indoor office and program space to train youth to lead kids, youth, families, and neighbors in outdoor programming. THANK YOU for helping us reach 400 signatures today as we petition the NYC Department of Health to extend our license at the East Harlem Health Action Center for the next two years through June 2028. Our aim is to ensure that youth can continue to receive year-round leadership and career readiness programming in public health and STEAM-related topics right here in East Harlem.... as well as the funds that youth receive for participation and/or completion of our programs.

This is the time to share our petition with your networks: https://c.org/t4FjkK5XgK

Use the method that you prefer, including but not limited to texting your friends and group chats, messaging in WhatsApp, posting on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or X, or giving out the QR Code. If you can read, you can sign and support.

Again, THANK YOU, and let's keep pushing towards our next goal - 500 humans willing to say: I care about youth outdoor leadership opportunities in East Harlem!

Have a safe weekend, and remember to play outside!

In Health,

Mac
