EVCS Principal reveals thoughts on his “prevailing school” during merge

In the following Article, Principal Goodman addresses the previous proposed merge with a different school.  His language can certainly confirm some of PS 19 parents’ fears: A takeover mentality.

“EVCS would be the “prevailing school”, meaning we would keep our name and number, I would remain the principal, and the two staffs would be combined to serve all of the students.” - Principal Goodman.   

We’ve been told there would maybe be a new name for our “new school” once the merge happens.   How many of their commitments can they really guarantee us they’ll keep? The EVCS PTA treasurer and co-President mentioned a lack of transparency on this merge from the DOE’s end, in the sense that it was more of a “take-over”.  "Take-over” or “prevailing school”, the language clearly reveals some intention.
