On the day of Trump's inauguration, Friday, January 20th, all Providence high schools will walk out of school at 11:08 AM to take a stand against his racist, misogynistic, elitist policies. All students will be meeting at the Rhode Island State House where there will be press, demonstrations, and speakers. If you want to make a change and be a leader, join us in this fight.  Walking out in the middle of the school day will make the statement that students have power in numbers.

Classical High School students in particular are rumored to receive zeroes on their upcoming midterms if they participate in the walkout. This petition stands as a representation to the Classical High School administration that the students hold strength in numbers- Trump's presidency is a phenomenon that will affect students nationwide. Students should not have to choose between succeeding in school and standing up against something that threatens their safety/security.

*UPDATE*

We have received word that Mr. Barr is dispelling rumors that he is going to implement a policy in which any student participating in the walkout will receive zeros on all of their midterms. The speculation originates from hearsay coming from teachers.

As of now Mr. Barr has not confirmed his concrete stance on the walkout. Please continue to support our fight in assuring that Classical High School students may partake in this peaceful protest. Please continue to share this petition amongst your family and peers in order to spread the word.
