NTU ICC Office: ICC Modules Should Be Pass/Fail!

NTU ICC Office: ICC Modules Should Be Pass/Fail!
The Issue
Dear Directors of the NTU ICC Office,
We are undergraduates who had been through the new ICC curriculum.
We are writing to raise our concerns about the letter-grading of ICC modules, and sincerely hope for action to be taken to scrap letter-grading of ICC modules. Instead, they should be Pass/Fail, or at least give students the option to exclude ICC modules from final cGPA computation, which we believe will be much beneficial for students.
As students of NTU, we understand that the intention of interdisciplinary modules is to allow us to understand and collaborate with students in various world issues and case studies, and come up with solutions from a variety of perspectives.
However, students who have the prior background knowledge for certain modules such as DD0003 (Information Visualisation) which favours students with design background, and CC0002 which students with the necessary background knowledge, have an advantage over students who do not have the prior knowledge. Students who do not have the background knowledge often struggle in such modules which is unfortunately changed from Pass/Fail to letter graded (A, B...... etc), affecting students' GPA adversely should they not perform well due to not having the prior background of the module content.
Hence, this petition seeks for action to scrap letter-grading of ICC modules. Instead, they should be Pass/Fail, or at least give students the option to exclude ICC modules from final cGPA computation, which we believe will be much beneficial for students.
