Making change ourselves.

After learning or should I say realising that Minister Brad Hazzard has the politician gene of having the gift of the gab so they can get away with doing the absolute bare minimum, it was an easy decision to make when asked be part of change myself. During the petition process a friend of a close friend of mine contacted me after signing and asked me if I would be interested to join The Phoenix Rising Foundation as an Ambassador. The Phoenix Rising Foundation was created in direct response to a failing system and is aimed to improve and enrich the lives of 100 abused, neglected, suicidal and homeless 10 to 13-year-old girls. The Foundation will build a drug free eco-retreat located in the Northern NSW or the border of Queensland and we are searching for 500-1000acres. 1. The drug free eco-retreat will provide a registered non-government school with a full national curriculum and with extra activities. 2. The girls have an opportunity to obtain their High School Certificate and then enrol into University, or learn vital on-the-job skills to allow for an easier transition into the workforce. There will be an exit program for the girls to assist them in assimilating to the ‘outside world’ as they leave the Retreat and gain employment or start University. 3. The Retreat will have specialised counsellors, mentors, youth workers and teachers to help them grow, learn, believe and evolve. 4. The girls will come from shelters, crisis centres, foster care organisations and off the street. 5. The drug free eco-retreat will cost around $10 million to build and approximately between 3 to 5 million each year to run. We are looking at a fully sustainable eco-retreat, which will operate all year every year. 6. Opening 2018 for girls and 100 boys will register once the girls have left. 7. Step One – Raising $5000.00 for registration, accountant and administration. 8. Step Two- Raising 1 million dollars for land/property. 9. Step Three- Raising 10 million to build and open by 2018.
