Roche Group has lodged paperwork with Lake Macquarie City Council that, if approved, will result in the loss of the Butterfly Cave and songline bushland at West Wallsend. The long-awaited "vibration report" has been lodged. It is a highly technical geo-tech document that we will be seeking to have analysed by an expert. We welcome any feedback regarding this report as it is CRUCIAL to the integrity of the (physical element) of the Butterfly Cave. The document may be accessed here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByStrLxy0x54SzdCcUxMQlhpRUU/view Needless to say, we are extraordinarily anxious. There will be a lot of sleepless nights over the next few weeks. We have - without doubt - been abandoned by the NSW Government. We have - without doubt - been ignored by mainstream media. We are forever amazed by the total lack of compassion, foresight and respect displayed by key players in this matter. How can Aboriginal women EVER hope to achieve any semblance of cultural peace if Government and developers continue to engage in a mutual love affair based on destruction for dollars? How can we, as a country, move forward together if some of us are consistently left behind? IMPORTANT: Here also is link to the document developed by Speakman's office on how they propose to "manage" the Butterfly Cave. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByStrLxy0x54ekZsWms3bVJiMDA/view The period for comment has been extended to 21 October 2016 and I encourage ANYONE to make comment - no matter how short. We need our collective voices to be heard. Comment can be sent to sonia.limeburner@environment.nsw.gov.au and please also send it to us at savethebutterflycave@gmail.com Thank you as always for your support. Without your voice the Cave would have been lost in 2015. At least we have managed to get this far. Annie Freer savethebutterflycave@gmail.com
