Email the City Council to Establish a Separate Fund for Hamilton!

Jun 5, 2017 — Email: <a href="mailto:novatocouncil@novato.org">novatocouncil@novato.org</a> Support the creation of a Special Hamilton Fund from the revenues of vacant properties. ******** Under General Business J-6: Councilmember Eklund has proposed a budget change that asks to: 4. New Fund. Establish a Hamilton Fund to place all monies acquired from the sale of properties in Hamilton for future use in Hamilton. This fund would include the $2M+ from the sale of the hospital; and, the $.5M from the land sale for the ‘Cottages’. Response: A separate fund was set up to track the proceeds from the sale of Hamilton properties (e.g. Hamilton Hospital, Hamilton Cottages) which is intended for City services, citywide. ******* Essentially the city's response is to not set the vacant properties sales for use at Hamilton only. If you looked at the Downtown SMART budget, that money is being considered for future funding of that downtown station. Email your council at <a href="mailto:novatocouncil@novato.org">novatocouncil@novato.org</a> and ask them to establish a fund that can be used for special projects like: restoring the Hamilton Theater for stage, creating passive recreation areas near the wetlands (formerly the site of the Stadium and Sports Complex), expanding the Hamilton Community Center, and preserving the Hamilton Town Center.
