Former Compassion Over Killing investigator Scott David has stepped into the light in a new video revealing the shocking abuses and food safety issues he witnessed at Quality Pork Producers (QPP), an exclusive Hormel supplier operating under the USDA’s high-speed slaughter, reduced-inspection pilot program known as “HIMP.” Help Scott stop the nationwide expansion of this dangerous program by sharing our petition now! Scott will soon personally deliver your signatures to the USDA. Although the USDA plans to expand HIMP in the name of “modernizing” slaughter, the program actually rolls back progress in consumer safety and animal welfare. HIMP allows plants to operate under extremely high line speeds--at QPP, one pig is killed every five seconds--while placing some inspection duties in the hands of slaughter plant employees. These plants have a vested interest in operating as quickly as possible to maximize profit, and employees are often forced to take inhumane shortcuts to keep the lines moving quickly. In his new video, Scott visits rescued pigs and explains why he is still haunted by the horrors he witnessed inside QPP--including pigs being beaten and dragged or improperly stunned, and pigs covered in feces or pus-filled abscesses being processed for human consumption with a USDA seal of approval. The USDA is now poised to expand this dangerous program, and Scott needs your help to stop it! As the agency weighs this decision, Scott will deliver your signatures directly to its doors in our nation’s capital. Please watch his video, and then share our petition with everyone you know to help us reach 250,000 signatures standing up for animal welfare and consumer safety nationwide. Thank you for your compassion!
