Petition updateNot So Fast, USDA: Stop the Unhealthy & Inhumane High-Speed Slaughter!Compassion Over Killing delivers shocking evidence against HIMP to Executive Office

Animal Outlook

Aug 16, 2017
Former Compassion Over Killing investigator Scott David’s alarming footage of Quality Pork Processors (QPP) has made yet another appearance--this time inside the White House’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB), which is currently weighing the USDA’s proposal to expand its dangerous high-speed, reduced-inspection pig slaughter program known as HIMP. Help us stop this proposed rule from becoming reality: Share our petition (bit.ly/stopHIMP) with your friends and family TODAY!
Scott, joined by Campaigns Manager Laura Cascada, brought his evidence of egregious abuse and alarming food safety issues to the OMB and the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service last week to make the case that HIMP poses a threat to food safety and animal welfare nationwide. At QPP, which operates at kill speeds of one pig every five seconds under HIMP, Scott documented workers dragging and improperly stunning pigs, as well as pigs covered in feces or pus-filled abscesses being processed for human consumption--all with a USDA seal of approval.
If the OMB gives HIMP its nod of approval, the proposed rule will move forward into a public comment period. Now is the time to make our voices heard! Please share our petition on social media today (you can use this short link: bit.ly/stopHIMP) and help us reach 250,000 signatures united against HIMP! As the rule advances, Scott will deliver your signatures in person, urging the USDA to protect consumers and animals alike by striking down this proposal.
Thank you for your compassion!
