Yesterday, Norwich City Council's Planning Committee voted 7 to 5 to approve the current redevelopment plan for Anglia Square. None of the councillors who voted for it live where the plan's impact will be the greatest. None represent Mancroft ward where Anglia Square is located. To their credit two of Mancroft's ward councillors, Cllr Martin Schmierer and Cllr Joanne Smith spoke eloquent against the plan, as did many others. The Council received 939 comments on the plan; 767 of the comments were objections, 120 supported it, the rest were neutral. A rival Change.org petition that supports the plan has just declared victory. It had 22 supporters! This petition has 633. Thank you to all who read, supported and shared this petition.
