Petition sent to board members and superintendent
Today, we decided to send the petition to the current Norwalk-La Mirada Unified Board members by e-mail. A few of them were against the closing of the school but there are some on there that thought it was a good idea. We hope to change the mind of these members and have them keep Los Coyotes open for at least one more year. That will be enough time to get past this global pandemic and be confident for our health and safety.
Also, there are a couple of new people that were elected to the board in November. Maybe they can help make those board members that wanted to close the school see that it is not a good idea. We still do not know if it will be safe for students to all go to school for next year. Wouldn't it be a good idea to have more options in case we need more space.
Here is a video we found that explains what the other La Mirada middle schools will have to deal with if they close our school. We think it does a good job of explaining the possible problems that will happen if they go through with closing our school.
Thank you for your support. It means a lot that you care about our school and about us. I think what we can do now is to e-mail the board members and let them know we don't like their previous decision. We want them to wait a year if they want to do something so big like closing our school. I think you can also send a comment to them for their meetings but have to go through their website to do that but we had a hard time finding it ourselves. We think that is a problem also, of making it hard to find out how to say something for their meetings, but that is not what we want to change now. We want to keep Los Coyotes open for the 2021-2022 school year!
