We've just had a meeting with Town Clerk Chris Shaw and Town Councillor Andrew Cooper.
They are again 100% behind us having a great concrete skatepark and once they have refurbished Old Hall Road play area in Leftwich, will start to look at obtaining designs and costs, which should be at the back end of this year. They are keen for us to set up a constituted group to help with funding applications and design, as they want this to be a facility for all to use and enjoy and while they may be able to help contribute financially at some point in the next year or 2, we will need to raise the remainder ourselves.
The Town Council is only given enough money each year to keep the Town running, so skateparks are considered more of a luxury outside of their alotted funding. They still need to get the remaining play areas fixed up before they can concentrate on applying for help with a new skatepark.
We will continue our campaign via www.facebook.com/groups/northwichskatepark and northwichskatepark.co.uk, along with setting up an official team, plus we will set up a campaign bank account, that will kindly be held on our behalf, by the Town Council.
When we get the funds together, and we have a design, the new park will replace the current one in Vickersway.
In other news, we have been been in talks with a couple of members of Northwich Rotary Club. They may be willing to help us with raising funds/awareness among members of the public/businesses. More info on that once we have a meeting with them.
Finally, we will now begin looking into raising what we need, and if you have any ideas/suggestions with regards to reaching our target, please let us know.
Many thanks and let's all work together to get a brand new, up to date park that Northwich well and truly deserves.
