Thank you very much for supporting this petition - it's vitally important, particularly as we only have 3 working days until this project is due to commence. I will be lodging this petition with North Sydney Council this Friday; more signatures means a better chance of convincing Council to delay the project until a more satisfactory design is approved. I have just received a set of plans from North Sydney Council for the proposed stair upgrade. As feared, the current stairs will be totally eradicated; and a new concrete & steel staircase installed. Landscape works will be major, with re-grading and filling to alter the current elevation. Bondek steel stairs, concrete blockwork and Weldlock Balltube handrail have been specified; meaning the stairs are likely to look like the new stairs North Sydney Council has constructed in King George Street (see image). This is not in keeping with the surrounding environment, and will destroy the aesthetic of this beautiful park.
