On the 31st October NL Council performed an assessment of the crossing between Glencryan and Woodlands the findings were poor. Even in the busiest half hour there were only 8 children using this crossing (16 other pedestrians) and only primary school children count for the evaluation. Traffic was considered light with 279 vehicles in the same half hour. The result is that no crossing patrol will be considered.
I have responded to NL council acknowledging their findings and as they have witnessed the 'chaos' and 'dangers' outside the school during drop off and pick up have asked them to work with the school to provide an alternative solution to the problem. I am suggesting a zebra crossing and restricted parking zone. I will keep you posted on any further updates.
