URGENT call to action.
Holiday hunger protest
County Hall steps, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich NR1 2UA

Monday 11 April 8.45am to 10.30am

if you can genuinely afford it please bring an item of food to donate to foodbank

Despite almost 2500 signatures on this petition, an enormous amount of hostile media coverage and widespread condemnation of the decision to scrap vouchers, Norfolk Tories remain the only county council in East Anglia to withdraw supermarket vouchers for the school holidays for children eligible for free school meals. They are refusing to appear on the media and shut down efforts to debate in council helping families to feed hungry children.

With only a week’s notice families lost £15 per child per week. At a time when energy costs rocketed by 50% and we are in the grip of a cost of living crisis. The Tory county council Leader refused to accept our petition as “urgent business” last week, and are refusing to accept an emergency motion on this issue for Monday morning.

Please join us to show your disgust and keep up the pressure. This is a family friendly peaceful protest. If want to drop off donations for food banks while we are there we can make sure they go to where your donations are needed. Vouchers and food banks are not the answer to the problems but families have to feed their children today and tomorrow. That can't be kicked down the road like the Tories are trying to do.

Monday 11 April 8.45am to 10.30am - hope to see you there

Please continue to sign and share this petition. Norfolk Tories may not want to see it but the struggling families appreciate every bit of support you can give them
