It's worth listening to the council leader's statement at the beginning of cabinet today. It's a cobbled together run through the Covid response but fails to deal with the urgent need for all those families in need of help. Worse still he made his statement in such a way no opposition members had the chance to raise any point - and refused to treat the petition as urgent business.
We always live in hope that humanity will find a way through to the decisions made by Conservative Norfolk cabinet. There's no evidence of it again today. We've come away angry and more determined than ever.
The petition will continue as vouchers remain the best hope for many families for making it through the Easter break without going hungry. But we're also going to ramp up the pressure on the inadequate provision in place. Let's see how it withstands the support required for those trying to feed their families while they meet their massively increased fuel bills, council tax, increased NI and more.
Norfolk limps from crisis to crisis - many not of our making, but almost all made worse by the lack of an effective response from Norfolk County Council. The fight goes on to feed the children and young people of Norfolk.
