Update—PETITION PAUSED as we chart a path forward for Summitt Elementary
Dear friends and fellow advocates,
Thank you for lending your voices and energy to our call for positive change. After weeks of candid dialogue and collective action, our May 5th meeting with Principal Greco and AISD leadership produced three key commitments:
Accountability & Repair
• Principal Greco has acknowledged the hurt caused and will launch campus‑wide reparations to rebuild trust and address staff and student needs.
Ongoing Oversight
• In light of this progress, we are pausing the petition.
• Principal Greco is working with District leaders twice-a-week to improve communication and leadership styles.
• A follow-up meeting in September will assess results
VNDL Board of Advisors
• A new advisory board—administrators, teachers, VNDL leadership, and parents/caregivers—will steer the Vietnamese Dual‑Language Program’s growth and sustainability.
• AISD’s Multicultural Department, VNDL leadership, and Principal Greco will meet weekly to ensure open communication and shared accountability.
These outcomes were possible because we showed up—sharing our stories, uniting in advocacy, and forging a partnership‑centered path. Meaningful change takes time, and we’re grateful for your patience as this vital process unfolds. Together we have illuminated our campus’s needs and secured concrete steps toward a healthier, more collaborative school climate for all.
With deep gratitude for moving Summitt forward!
