In 2023, the Town of The Blue Mountains Council made the decision to no longer have Wee Willi Winkels Day in their list of Official Proclamations and days of recognition as this is no longer a Town recognized event. 

The Town will retain the Will's virtual exhibit in the Craigleith Heritage Depot Museum,  where they will host a Willi memorabilia display from March to May 2023.  Judy Winkels, Willi’s partner, First Lady to Ride the Yellow Banana, snowboard, will be celebrated in 2024.   Please explore these opportunities to learn more about Willi's many achievements as an innovator, producer, marketer. 

Jesse Grierson will regroup to nominate Willi to the Canadian Ski (and snow sports) Hall of Fame.  They will keep you updated.
