The US and Israel have unleashed unspeakable horror on Iran and its people. Trump is a war criminal who threatens genocide with his statement, that ‘a whole civilisation will die’…never to be brought back again’. To re-iterate, this is an illegal war, in defiance of international law, which has brought devastating human consequences and has threatened catastrophe, including implied nuclear strikes, across the Middle East.

The ceasefire brings relief, but it is extremely precarious, not least because of Israel’s continued destruction of Lebanon and Trump’s deranged war mongering.

We the undersigned are deeply concerned that Scotland is complicit in these horrors. Prestwick Airport has been repeatedly used by US military aircraft heading to bases across the Middle East and Mediterranean. Reports are that Glasgow is also being used.

Prestwick is not a neutral stopover. It is a vital link in the US military’s logistical chain that is bringing death to Iranian people and the destruction of the country’s civilian infrastructure. We demand the Scottish Government ban the US military from Scottish airports. Austria, Spain, Italy and France have denied airspace to the USAF and/or have withdrawn facilities.
