Over 50 Nashikites have already lost their lives by crashing into trees standing right in the middle of the roads! The next victim should not be one of near or dear. Should it?

• In the last decade, many roads in Nashik city were widened, but trees left standing in the middle of the roads, have turned into deadly hazards.
• Trees are the pride of Nashik, but those standing in the middle of busy roads have become a curse, causing fatal accidents.
• At least 50 people have already died in such crashes. Thousands travel every day with this life-threatening risk.
• The average age of victims is just 35 — meaning dozens of families have lost their breadwinners.
• Some single trees have caused 4–5 deaths each!
• Beyond the tragic loss of lives and permanent disabilities, these crashes also cause heavy property damage, worsen traffic jams, increase pollution, and harm the environment too. 

What has been done so far:

Nashik Citizens Forum, along with other organizations, has repeatedly appealed to the Nashik Municipal Corporation. Some action has been taken, but the problem is far from resolved. This petition seeks a clear court directive to ensure lasting safety. 

Our Demands:

1. Immediate removal of trees standing in the middle of roads.

2. Time-bound and transparent action, with regular updates to citizens.

3. Replantation or transplantation of trees at safe locations as per norms.

4. Routine inspection and maintenance to prevent further tragedies.

5. No road-widening project should be considered complete until all such hazardous trees and poles are removed.

Let us preserve Nashik’s greenery — but not at the cost of human lives. Trees must give life, not take it away.

• गेल्या दशकभरात नाशिकमधील अनेक रस्ते रुंद झाले पण त्या रस्त्यांवरची झाडे तशीच राहिलीत. खरे तर झाडे ही नाशिकचं भूषण पण रस्त्यांच्या अधेमधे असलेली काही ठराविक झाडे ही नाशिककरांसाठी दूषण ठरू लागली. 
• या झाडांमुळे अपघाताच्या शक्यतेची टांगती तलवार घेऊनच हजारो नाशिककर त्यांचा रोजचा प्रवास करतात. कारण, या झाडांवर धडकून आजवर किमान पन्नासपेक्षा जास्त नाशिककरांना प्राण गमवावे लागले आहेत. 
• विशेषतः या मृतांचे सरासरी वय हे ३५ आहे. म्हणजे किमान तीस कुटूंबांना त्यांच्यातला एक कर्ता माणूस गमवावा लागला आहे. 
• काही ठिकाणी तर एकेका झाडाने ४-५ झाडांचा बळी घेतलेला आहे. 
• वारंवार होणारे अपघात, त्यामुळे होणारे मृत्यू आणि अनेकांना येणारे अपंगत्व, या जीवीतहानीसोबतच होणारी वित्तहानी तर या धोकादायक झाडांमुळे होतेच. पण, वाहतूकीची कोंडी होऊन प्रदुषणात भर पडते आणि पर्यावरणाचीदेखिल हानी होते. 

याबाबत नाशिक सिटीझन्स फोरमच्या पुढाकाराने विविध संस्थांच्यावतीने नाशिक महानगरपालिकेकडे वेळोवेळी दाद मागितली गेली आहे. महानगरपालिकेकडून काही प्रमाणात कारवाईही झाली आहे. मात्र, धोकेदायक झाडांचा प्रश्न पूर्णतः सुटलेला नाही. त्यामुळे या झाडांबाबत सुस्पष्ट असा न्यायालयीन आदेश महानगरपालिकेला मिळावा, म्हणूनच ही ऑनलाईन याचिका आहे.

या याचिकेद्वारे पुढील मागण्या मांडत आहोत:
१. रस्त्यांच्या अधेमधे असलेली धोकादायक झाडे तात्काळ हटवली जावी.
२. झाडे हटविण्याची कारवाई त्वरित आणि कालबद्ध असावी. या कारवाईची पारदर्शक माहिती नागरिकांना मिळावी.
३. नियमानुसार सुरक्षित ठिकाणी झाडांची पुनर्लावणी अथवा पुनर्रोपण करावे.
४. नियमितपणे झाडांची तपासणी व देखरेख व्हावी —जेणेकरून पुन्हा असे बळी जाऊ नयेत.
५. धोकेदायक झाडे आणि खांब हटविल्याशिवाय रस्ते रुंदीकरणाच्या कामाला पूर्णत्वाचा दाखवा देऊ नये.

नाशिकची हिरवाई जपतानाच प्राणदायी झाडे कुणाची कुटूंबे उजाड करणारी ठरू नयेत, याचेही भान ठेवूया.जच या याचिकेवर सही करा आणि धोकेदायक झाडांमुळे जाणारे बळी थांबण्यात योगदान द्या!!
